Project study: EPD Verification
Design a new business around third-party verification of LCAs and EPDs as a team. A TUM project study supervised at the TUM Entrepreneurship Research Institute.
AS PART OF
TUM Project Studies
- Project Studies are team projects in which students of the TUM School of Management work with a company and a supervising chair.
- A team of 2 to 5 students works on a real question for 3 months full-time or 6 months part-time.
- The process follows the TUM format: kick-off, mid-term meeting, final presentation and written report.
SUPERVISING INSTITUTE
Supervision confirmedTUM Entrepreneurship Research Institute (ERI)
- We submitted the project study to ERI, which offers project studies and interdisciplinary projects together with companies. The institute found a suitable supervisor internally and confirmed supervision.
- ERI has published the project study on its website. We communicate it here and on LinkedIn at the same time.
- As soon as a team is in place, we start with a joint kick-off with the team and the supervisor.
What it’s about
Every Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) rests on a life cycle assessment (LCA) that an independent verifier must approve before publication. ecoverity has cut the cost of creating an EPD to a fraction of what it used to be. Verification has not followed and for many manufacturers now costs more than the study itself. With the EU Digital Product Passport, the rules of verification are about to change again.
The project framework is only a possible proposal and can always be adapted and refined by the students. We look forward to your suggestions and pitches!
